Kansas City Catholics:
For Catholic families who want land, animals, good neighbors, and a life closer to the ground.
Michael Thomas, Executive Director of the Catholic Land Movement, is joining us for a special evening at our farm north of Kansas City.
Wednesday, September 30 · 6:00–8:00 PM · Lathrop, Missouri
The Catholic Land Movement is a community of Catholic families helping one another build lives rooted in land, faith, work, and local community.
Growing food. Raising animals. Learning practical skills. Helping families get onto land. And building communities where the parish is the center.
The movement has roots in the Catholic Land Movement that began in England in the 1920s. Today, Catholics around the world are creating that vision again.
Kansas City already has a growing group of families gathering around these ideas.
On September 30, we're bringing that community together with Michael Thomas, Executive Director of the Catholic Land Movement.
Executive Director, Catholic Land Movement
Michael Thomas co-founded the modern Catholic Land Movement six years ago.
He is a shepherd, orchardist, father of six, and someone who has devoted his life to helping Catholic families recover a closer relationship with land, work, family, and community.
Michael did not grow up farming. He worked as an emergency medical responder, and found that working the land gave him something he had been missing. What began as a way to heal became a hobby, then a vocation, and eventually a ministry.
Today, he works full time building the Catholic Land Movement and traveling around the country meeting families and local chapters.
This September, he'll be spending an evening with us in Kansas City.
Meet other Catholic families · Prayer · Michael Thomas speaks · Q&A · Bonfire
Come in, grab a seat, and meet some of the other Catholic families from around Kansas City.
We'll open the evening together with a short welcome and prayer.
We'll briefly introduce the Kansas City Catholic Land Movement and welcome Michael.
Then Michael will speak on where the movement came from and what it looks like for an ordinary family to begin moving toward land.
Michael spends much of his year talking with Catholic families working out land, homesteading, and where to begin.
Bring your questions. This is your chance to ask him directly.
The formal part of the evening wraps up here. Everyone is welcome to stay.
Gather around the fire and talk about land, family, faith, farming, and whatever else comes up.
You do not need to own land.
You do not need to be a farmer.
You just need to want the same thing:
What would it look like for Catholic families to build a more rooted life together?
